How We Evaluate E-Bikes

Our methodology, data sources, and transparency commitment

Our Methodology

We do not physically test every e-bike we recommend. Instead, we use a data-driven aggregation approach:

  1. Aggregate data from manufacturer specifications, Amazon listings, and retailer information
  2. Analyze user reviews to identify common praise and complaints
  3. Compare specifications across similar products in each category
  4. Verify claims by cross-referencing multiple sources
  5. Update regularly as prices and availability change

Our database tracks: 560+ e-bikes across 72+ brands with daily price updates and verified specifications.

What We Look For

When evaluating e-bikes for our comparison database, we analyze:

  • Motor power and type — hub vs mid-drive, wattage, torque ratings
  • Battery capacity — watt-hours, realistic range estimates, charging time
  • Build quality indicators — frame materials, component brands, warranty coverage
  • User review patterns — what do real owners say after months of use?
  • Value for money — comparing specs within each price range

Data Sources

Primary Sources:

  • Amazon product listings and customer reviews
  • Manufacturer official specifications
  • Authorized retailer product pages

Review Analysis:

We aggregate and analyze customer review patterns to identify:

  • Common reliability issues
  • Real-world battery range vs. advertised claims
  • Customer service experiences
  • Long-term durability feedback

AI Assistance Disclosure

We use AI tools to help with:

  • Initial research and data gathering
  • Drafting content structure
  • Cross-referencing specifications

All AI-generated content is reviewed, edited, and verified by our editorial team before publication. Final recommendations reflect human judgment based on data analysis and user feedback.

What We Don't Do

We are transparent about the limitations of our methodology:

  • We do not physically test every e-bike (except through manufacturer loaners when available)
  • We cannot verify long-term durability without months of ownership
  • We don't review warranty claim experiences (varies by individual)
  • We can't assess local dealer service quality in your area

Our recommendations are based on spec analysis, value comparison, and user review patterns — not hands-on testing for every model.
